...in the mid-90s.

I don't really know what I think about this song yet, or this band. It sounds like the 90s, yes, but it sounds engagingly fresh and the same time. It's instantly likable but I've been listening to it for a while now and I'm not sure if it goes any deeper.

I have seen my daughter...

I was a little late to the Yuck party so it seems only right that I'm slow on the uptake when it comes to Yu(c)k too. There's very little info out there about this Yuck side project (the fact that google does do punctuation is not helping) but just from the sound of it you can guess that it only involves a few members.

The stripped down sound is brilliant and works especially well when held against the style of the debut album. Blumberg has this incredible ability write mesmerising melodies, beautiful in their simplicity and here is no exception. The lyrics are understated but fit the music perfectly while the drifting piano creates a rich but sparse texture. The entire thing just seems to come together so well.

It seems that Yuck (or Yu(c)k) can do no wrong and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Next week I hope to pick up the new Death Cab CD, so hopefully I can write my thoughts of it some time next week but I am starting this blog in the middle of exams (not the best idea) so I might not have time. At least there's no readership to alienate. Yet.
